That Feeling Again
Lilac Publishing's Debut Book
Crossing the Line will go on sale in paperback form in about ten days. My first shipment of 100 books will arrive at my door. I have people who have been waiting patiently for this book.
Crossing the Line is the second in the Macy McVannel series. The first book was published by Unforgettable Books, Inc. For reasons, I still don't understand, they suspended all contracts in October, 2012 with Crossing the Line due out the end of November.
After much scrambling I found it would be easier to open my own publishing company and publish my book. I could not find a publisher who wanted the second book in a series. This is the culmination of opening my own company Lilac Publishing and getting the first book out.
I have found it frustrating, fascinating, and fabulously enriching. I am almost ready to take on another author. I am not planning to remain exclusive to myself. I have an upcoming author I am working with. While I pound out book three in the series, I am hoping to get hers into the publishing track for a late fall debut.
What Comes Next?
I have 6300 words of Sanctuary written. To get a jump start on that I have signed up for JuNoWriMo. Much like NaNoWriMo in November, the idea is to write 50,000 words in thirty days. I have much going on in my life right now.
I am getting my home ready to sell. I have a wedding coming up in early June in Kentucky, and I am working on a novel. Not too much to take on. Oh yeah, I'm hoping to start a new author on the road to publication. Yep, I'm going to be busy.
We will be seeking reviews for her novel as soon as it goes through editing and is in it's pre-book stage. We will pick people to get ARCs-Advance Review Copies. I have a list of people to send the book to for professional reviews. That will be a four month process. By the time we are done, we should be ready to go to press.
I am also setting up book signings for my new book. I have one scheduled with Ogemaw District Library in Rose City, Michigan for June 17th. I am working on a second one. The idea is to book two or three for the summer. Book signings bring sales. They also give me a chance to meet new potential readers.
Lilac Publishing will not be dormant either. I will have ebooks and paperback books to track sales on. There are always monthly bills and accounting to do. I will be seeking some other writers to sponsor, support, and possibly publish.
