The Act Of Cleaning Is Therapeutic

Updated on October 5, 2013

Unnoticed And Forgotten

To get down and dirty

Scrubbing away those pots and pans to bring back that old shine

Sweeping the floor finding the dust bunnies that are hidden

Washing the windows so we can see for miles

Letting in enormous amounts of light

Organizing a draw that was once messy

Folding clothes that were scattered

Washing the dishes and putting them away in their prospective places

Making sure the kitchen table is neat and pristine

Feeling good even though are muscles ache and we are now physically tired

Looking at the stove and giving it another wipe

Another peek in the refridgerator to make sure everything is in order

Throwing out anything old or cleaning any spills that have been made

Now heading for the showers

Like playing baseball in the big leagues after a winning game

The satisfaction of a job well done

Janshares The whole feeling of things organized and in order helps me think clearer.I am able to tackle other projects with the same efficiency. Thank you for your insight.

Acknowledging cleaning in a poetic way is awesome. I hate doing it but this motivates me to focus on the cathartic nature of it. I always feel better when I clean up, my head feels clearer. Thanks for reminding me of the basics, DREAM ON. Voted up and awesome.

      Hi dream-on

Quite frequently not much is needed to make oneself satisfied and happy. You've made quite a list opportunity to it.

      Voted interesting

Gypsy Rose Lee All things in moderation. I love technology but it still can't replace a good old fashion house cleaning. Keeping the things we love neat and clean and giving away things we no longer need to someone else who might enjoy them as much as us. Moving on to a brighter and bigger future. Thanx for the lovely read and comment.

Oh, this is SO, SO excellent! I've been so disgusted with the clutter in my writing room - the paper trail throughout the home of a writer, not to mention the famous dust bunnies that I think have feet! You are SO right...there is nothing like clarity in our home to turn it into a palace.

Voted up, useful and awesome! Blessings, Sparklea ;)

Yes, how good it feels when you've made everything look clean and tidy and you know you've got more room for it all, in my case more room in the wardrobe! Lately we've been sorting and minimalising our possessions and that's really therapeutic. You also find things you'd forgotten you had and you can spend hours going through old photos instead of carrying on with the housework! Great hub! Ann

Lee Tea I love the idea of lighting a candle. To enjoy all the good times after all the work is done. Thanx so much for reading and sharing your day.

I definitely rest my head better at night when my housework is done for the day - dishes are done, laundry's put away, and the coffee pot's set for the next day. Each night when I finish cleaning up after dinner, I light a candle in the kitchen window - reminds me I've put my hours in, my work here's done, and I can rest cozy now. When I'm really upset about something, to the point that I can't or don't want to talk about it, I clean and clean. I appreciate this - thanks for writing :)
