The Ambitious Lie

A little lie dreamed of being a fact

But we all know that lies just can’t do that

So he lived on to be the best little lie

Who soon grew to a big lie, salient and spry

He spread across the countryside

Through town to the mountain tops

And when he did, he could see no end

So he said, “I’ll never stop!”

He jumped up in some clouds

And rained down throughout the land

Down to every lip and ear

Then passed from hand to hand

And though he never lived his dream

For lies are lies to stay

He does live on and could be

One we believe today
