The Chains That Binds
On the Day we wed, as one we became
We were in love and nothing could
Change that
We loved, we laughed
And danced to songs as old as time
We frolicked in Lifes green pastures
And Nothing could change what we felt
The World to us was new, young
And exciting
Nothing could change us, we pledged
Our love to each other our breath mingled
With soft Words spoken
and unspoken
Love burned deep within
Nothing could change us
We saw the tides change
from salient hues of blue to cold stark lifeless gray
And pledged that nothing
Would change us
Years went by and the dance became awkward
And my limbs no longer moved with the grace of Youth
Our lips no longer touched in anticipation
Your eyes which once bespoke those words of love
Forever silent
Choked within the ties that bind
Choked in this instance means as in old English to stop or to pause; to cause to end. Not as it relates to physical choking.
