The Color Of Spring
The color of Spring
Purple sage, red, and yellow roses
Orange trees blossoming pungent white
Peaches flower overnight, pink and white blooms, adorns low hanging branches
The deep forest green of the young oak leaves pops out towards the sunlit skies
The gentle breeze rustles dried leaves; blowing them here and there across unkept lawn
A garden snake writhes underneath its colors orange and brown
I stand transfixed as it makes it's way over and under rocky beds of white
A shudder escapes me as the wind whips around
The beauty of the Day engulfs me and I sigh
It's a sigh of new beginnings of promise of things to come
In adjacent fields, a new calf walks alongside its Mother
On spindly unsteady limbs
The smell of freshly cut grass, mixing with the smell of fresh cut wildflowers
elicits a sneeze, as it tickles my nose and makes my eyes water
Honeysuckle of white calls to the hummingbirds with its sweet pungent smell
And as they dip their tiny heads to drink
A bumble bee happens by singing its happy song
I sit perched on whitewashed rails sipping tea
And in pensive thought
A more beautiful Day I cannot ask
As I turn my nose towards the sky
And sniff the mixture of
Spring, as it tumbles in the air
