The Deceitful Wife and Cruel Mother Part I " A short story"

Shawn Lee Yung was sitting at a table the night of his graduation ball when all of a sudden he felt an eye piercing through him, when he looked up he saw the most radiant being with long black hair and blue green eyes looking back at him she was smiling from ear to ear and she nodded to him to come towards her. He was a bit shy and he rose from his seat and went to her introducing himself as Shawn she shook his hands and said well am Maria Weiss please to meet you. Then she asked him if he wanted to dance he said am not much of a dancer but just for your sake I will try, while dancing they chatted and got to know each other a bit, Maria asked him if he was dating anyone and he said no he wasn’t and she replied well I myself is single and you seem like quiet a nice guy already in her English accent.

Maria had received a phone call it was her dad he was waiting outside for her, she told him she’ll be there in a jiffy. Hey Shawn that was my daddy am a daddy’s girl you know he’ s here to pick me up , okay I see well allow me to drop you by your car , just before he reached the waiting vehicle she slipped a piece of paper in his hands and said call me and wave good bye. He wave and tucked the piece of paper into his wallet and headed back to the ball to see if he can find some of his buddies to hang out with till he was ready to leave.

It was 11:00pm when he finally decided to leave, he hopped into his silver wagon and sped off in forty five minutes time he was at his door steps, he pushed the key into the door lock and walked straight to his room. He was tired so he did not even bother to take his clothes off he just slumped across his bed and fell fast asleep. The next morning he woke up said his prayers had a shower and headed downstairs for breakfast. His mother was in the kitchen sitting at the table waiting on him, I was wondering if you’ll ever come down and they both chuckled while eating he told his mum about meeting a girl name Maria at the ball and she give him her number to call her. His mother replied or okay hmmm I’d like to meet her very much and so would your father. You know we don’t want you picking any wild berries in the field you need our approval. Shaun was very reserve and shy so he harken to his mother’s voice without any hesitation. Okay mum how about inviting her for dinner on Friday? Aright! unless you are planning to help me do the dishes after no problem. Come on mum you know I hate washing dishes I’ll do anything else. After breakfast Shawn ran up to his room to call Maria, her brother had answered and he said just a minute Maria is downstairs soon enough she was on the other end hello who am I speaking to? Oh this is Shawn Lee yung whom you met at the ball the other night, hi I was wondering when you would have called.

I told my mum about you and she told me to ask you if you will like to come over for dinner on Friday? Well certainly why should I turn down such a lovely offer. I can come and meet you if you like or maybe your dad can drop you across. I will let you know Shawn they chatted a little and then he hung up. Mrs. Lee yung and her husband went to the supermarket early Friday morning by 5:00pm that evening the house was filled with lovely aromas of food as the scent drift from room to room. Maria said her dad will drop her over at 7:00pm while Shawn was in his room tossing out his wardrobe trying to find and impressive suit for dinner. Soon it was 7:00pm Mrs. Lee yung and her husband was already dressed and waiting when the door bell rang, Mr. Yee yung went to the door and there was Maria standing with a gorgeous navy blue and silver dress shimmering from head to toe, there was one problem though it was short and a bit too tight. When she arrived in the dining room Mrs. Lee yung eyes literally popped out her eye sockets as if to say this dress is totally inappropriate, anyhow she smile and welcome Maria and told her to have a seat. Moments later Shawn came down the stairs looking extremely handsome and smelling sweeter than a crushed rose. He sat right next to his guess and everyone joined in the conversation laughed and talked.

Then it was time to say grace and have dinner around the table while eating Maria started to talk about her x boyfriend and how once she almost killed him when he got her angry. So everyone was like okay then we are sure hearing of the other side of you. Mr. lee yung said thank God you didn’t you look too nice a girl to do something like that and she grinned and smirked her face in away as if to say I would have done it. Anyways dinner was pretty tasty as everyone helped themselves to a big helping, and then there was still room for ice cream and cake. It was 10:30pm when the door bell rang it was Maria’s dad she thanked the Lee yungs for dinner winked at Shawn and then said good bye.

After the first visit Maria and Shawn became boyfriend and girlfriend his mother didn’t approve of her mainly because of her dressing and mannerism at times and the crazy things she’ll hurl out. Apparently the major problem was Shawn was spending a lot of time away from home and this started to affect his mother, because she hardly saw her son. Early one morning while Mrs. Lee yung and her husband was sitting in the verandah sipping on some hot coffee, Shawn came very abruptly to announce that he will be going to Geneva for eight days with Maria and her family. His mother became so angry her hands began to shake and her cup of coffee fell to the floor and splattered on her feet. What do you mean by you are going to Geneva for a week you barely even know this girl for six months and you have already been gyrating your body all over her families place.

I am warning you young man if you don’t call it quits with Maria soon you will have regrets, she is not wife material for you. You need to go get a job and do things the right way, oh mama you don’t understand I fell in love with Maria since the day at the ball. Fell in love my foot your blind Shawn , that was it he stormed inside and straight upstairs into his room and never came down till the next evening. Finally the weekend to Geneva was here Shawn packed his bags in his trunk bid his dad good bye and sped off, he had to drive 60 miles to the airport. When he arrives Maria and four of her cousins were happily awaiting him. While on the plain Maria asked Shawn to marry her in Geneva and he said he couldn’t do that without telling his parents etc, where would they live? She insisted that her father have some ranch with a house on it and he said it’s hers so they can live there, she was older than him and much more bold face. So he gave in and decided that they will do something small on their third day in Geneva and when he gets back home he’ll explain everything to his parents. Maria smiled an evil grin behind Shawn’s head that’s all she wanted to do tie the knot use and abuse him and show her real colours. All her other boyfriends barely escaped her wicked plans outlined for them, Shawn will be her third husband but she’ll never tell him that...................
