Quick Poll

Was your high school the best or the suckiest days of your life?

See results

Yay, it’s official!

Dear Alma Mater finally hit the gold.

So, cheers and let’s all dance

To the greatest hits of our time

Or sing our hymn if y’all still know.

Now, this will surely take us back

To the many wonderful memories

Good times, fun times way back then

From our glorious sanctuary of hopes

And of dreams that are now attained.

Dear Alma Mater we thank thee

For the golden knowledge as we look back

On the book of our lives when you shaped us

Marking chapters in between and what’s next

We know not until your golden year.

And as we reminisce the olden days

In your golden day we praise thee

We look forward to coming back

And to let you know we are proud

For this very special homecoming.

So, you've got mail...

An invitation for your high school's homecoming. Would you attend?

See results

This chance to walk down again

To the hall of fame in the quadrangle

Where we hung out with the gang

For fun and pranks and let’s be frank

We only wanted to see our secret crushes!

Oh, what a terrific thoughts on your 50th!

Curious to know who’s actually returning

Not to forget the prom King & Queen

And your other produce now scattered

All around the world are excited.

Time indeed had flown so fast

Along with some unfortunate souls

Who are sadly gone and unable to join

To sing our hymn and gracefully dance

On your golden year to celebrate.

We say a little prayer then

For those who have departed

For those who have to creep

And for those away from home

No matter what, here we all belong!

For our dearly beloved teachers

We thank you for the inspiration

And the motivation to cultivate

Potentials we have as you believed

And yes, indeed, we succeed!

Now, dare to express your sentiments

Bet y'all will agree High School life is the best!

Take a bow ladies and gents and hail to thee

Alma Mater have reached her fiftieth

After all these years, homecoming is a gift!

All the times we had together,

And as our lives change, come whatever,

We will still be friends forever." - Vitamin C

What's the greatest (or sucky) memory of your high school days?

Did you have a good high school experience or was it pathetic? Were you one of those misfits who tried hard to fit? What's your most unforgettable or most bizarre experience in high school? Was it in high school that you had your first love and maybe first kiss as well? I'd love to hear your stories. Don't be shy. It'll be interesting and fun to hear different stories. :)

ocfireflies: Thanks Kim. I guess, most of us have both (bad and good) and that's the beauty of high school life.

As always, love to you from the sky.

Voted up and thanks for the memories. I loved my high school days and I would love having the experience of walking through my high school one more time. I think that I would just step back in time. Passing this on.

I was a misfit then, but things have certainly changed a lot. I now walk my own path, and do as I will. I may have come up hard, but it taught me the tenacity that has always seen me through.

I have to agree with Kim. I have both wonderful and not-so-great memories of my high school days. So I guess I am the "in-between." :-) I am glad you are sharing stories with your daughter, and encouraging her to enjoy this time -- it will never pass by again. Excellent hub.

I have both good and bad memories. While I was very much involved in many extra-curricular activities and able to get along with just about any group, I never really felt like I fit in. Plus, like John, I attended a lot of different schools which made it somewhat difficult to ever really get settled. Love your hub and your poem.

I'm still not at that point where I've been invited to homecoming. That's probably still a few years away. I hope I find something to brag about by then.

Hi Jodah! Glad you enjoyed it. The video was my little contribution to the organizers and fellow graduates since I cannot join them. I wanted to write an article about it but life outside HP is quite overwhelming these days. I actually have a couple of incomplete hubs that I am yet to publish and then this "reunion".

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your experience. It's never smooth anywhere. There's always bumps here and there. I had an enjoyable high school but there were sad (and couple of ugly) experiences too.

      Cheers!

bravewarrior: Aww, that's quite sad then but I guess that's a common problem with the new kids on the block- acceptance, which I'm pretty sure you have gotten over with. Sorry to hear about your experience. Appreciate your sharing Sha and as always, thank you for coming by. Your support really means a lot. Love from the sky~

Hi Faith! My high school was kind of exciting actually and I keep on sharing my stories with my daughter about it and how I always tell her to enjoy her days. There were some bumps, of course, but they were all part of the game. I actually wanted to write a full article about it but my plate is quite full these days. Hence, this short tribute for now and then maybe later.

Thank you for stopping by and for sharing your own story. Let's know what happen next in the meet-up if you ever go. Well, always happy to see you.

      Love from the sky~

I enjoyed this hub and poem Cris. Very interesting video too. I changed schools a bit so some of my high school experiences were good, others not so much. At one school I excelled at sport so that was helpful. I have been to two reunions for two different schools but both were a little disappointing unfortunately.

Cris, I'm glad high school was a good experience for you. I had a hard time being accepted because I was a newcomer to a school that was very cliquish. Most everyone in my high school grew up together and were not very open to the new kid on the block. I've never attended a reunion. In fact, I've never even gotten an invitation. Probably because I moved a lot after graduation. I really have no desire to see any of those people.

I am so happy you had a great high school experience. I did not, as I was such a nerd ... too tall, skinny and so shy LOL. Being that my husband and I had lived away from our home state for so many years, we never went to any reunions, and I really did not care to do so at the time. However, now at this late stage in the game of life (no longer shy), I would love to go back, not necessarily to a reunion, but they have meet-ups and I have been invited to those. I live only one state over from the state in which I graduated high school, so it would be easy.

Your poem is great and very enthusiastic. Hope you have a blast!

      Blessings

Misfit all the way, thank you very much. I've managed to miss every one of our reunions so far. I see no reason to break that streak. LOL Loved your poem, though, and it's always nice to see you here with something new.
