The Great and Powerful Oz
Power is an illusion
This you do not see
As you hide behind a smokescreen.
I see through the illusion
Of power and glory.
I see someone with a great need
For control
For respect.
Are you frightened by vulnerability?
Do you fear your equals?
Your imaginary veil of power
Does not hide the real you.
Your position does not give you the right
To take away our self-respect.
You speak of love,
Yet, in the dark you conspire
Against those that come too close.
Out of fear you want to destroy
Out of jealousy you trample the weak.
I long to life your imaginary veil.
I long to expose you,
But then that makes me a reflection of you.
Right now I feel pity
For the great and powerful Oz.
