The Hardest Thing To Do

Updated on July 31, 2015

In the heat of an argument we can shout and scream:

“I Hate You!” “Go, Get Out!” “I never want see or speak to you again!”

But we can never seem to say a simple one word phrase even on our best day.

You see it’s the hardest thing to do, Lord knows for me and I bet you too.

Deep breath here goes. “Damn this is so freaking hard for me to do!”

Well here’s my reason why bear, with me because the subject tends to make me want to cry!

I’m no good with, I’m not fond of, I really truly HATE, ga-ga-oooodbbbyes!

There I said it the hardest thing to do is say that one word, goodbye!

Goodbyes most often must be said to someone to whom we’ve quite often said, "I love you!"

It's the hardest thing to do the word is not easily spit out.

It’s not one I can scream or shout!

Though I have yelled out; “I hate goodbyes!”

I hate goodbye it should not be a word!

Though I have heard it can be easier said than done!

Pleases spare me the lies there’s no one who really loves goodbyes!

Goodbyes mean and end; that someone didn’t win.

Challenge me if you will but they’re even hard for men!

Yes it’s true I may find I should say goodbye to you but it’s something I simply cannot do.

It’s not because I hate you! It’s not that I don’t want to.

Come on now you know it’s the hardest thing to do!

It’s simply because I’m no good with, I’m not fond of, I really truly hate GOODBYE!

I like this. The way you told this poem was intriguing... some levity, a little humor, on a rather bleak subject.
