The Heart of Norma Jeane

Updated on August 5, 2013

The Beauty of Pain

I am a weeping willow

Have always loved them so

I am a cherry blossom

Freezing in the snow

I know I have a purpose

I know there is a rhyme

Though time holds not the door

Stairs moving - Lest I climb

What lifetime shall I finish

The many I've begun

Missions history crumbles

Songs I've left unsung

You love the weeping willow

Fear not, she loves you too

So hot and yet so frigid

A fiery morning dew

I know I have a purpose

To reach the hearts of men

I know I'll find my pathway

A scavenger of plans

      heavenleigh,

Nice to meet you. You also have an interesting background!

This is a good poem, as well as very nice accolade to Norma Jean.

I will definitely be looking for the book about Marilyn by Keya Moran.

      Voted up—DF

This presentation has a lot going for it. Excellent poem, well chosen pictures an entertaining video, packaged around Norma Jeane. There is a quiet brilliance to the whole thing.

PhillyDreamer, thank you for your comment. There is speculation, and has been for nearly 50 years now, that she may have been murdered. A new book by Keya Morgan (in the editing stages) is coming out on this subject. But with previous suicide attempts, it is easier for me to believe that she finally succeeded in ending her own life. I am interested in reading Keya's interviews with those close to her. In his opinion they bolster the theory that her death was plotted and carried out by others.

It was apparent, either way, that she had a haunted kind of sadness about her.

If she felt like this, I can see why she felt suicide was the only way out. To try and be what everyone wanted her to be, and to not truly know herself. It's quite sad.

Thank you so much BraveWarrior! I appreciate that - I almost took the video off - because I wasn't sure it was right for the mood of the poem. But the music and the fun is what propelled Marilyn beyond the sadness many times throughout her life, so I left it in. I truly appreciate your validation for the decision. ;)

All I have to say is you go girl! Your poem is exquiste, but the video is the coup de gras!

She did leave many "songs unsung". A beautiful gift given to a memory of a all too short life.
