The JUNK DRAWER
I’ve always taken special care
Of broken jewelry you no longer wear
And old hair ties that hold up your hair
The match books and twisty ties are my close friends
I would be devastated if this friendship ends
When you are looking for tape or scissors
They are always in their place
I’ve got pencils with tops if you need to erase
That lid for the canned pet food comes in handy at times
There’s a cloth for your glasses to make them shine
When you are looking for a pen and paper
You can count on me
I even have a magnifying glass to help you see
When you open a bag of chips, I’ve got one of those clips
And in the far corner is Chap Stick for your lips
If you cut your finger and start to bleed
I’ve got exactly what you need
The wooden ruler is here if you want to measure
There are so many things I really do treasure
The tossed copper pennies accumulate at times
I’ve often wondered why you don’t add shiny dimes
I have an array of different size rubber bands
And pretty smelling lotion to soften your hands
I guard your address book, it’s important to you
I care about your things, yet you may have no clue
Do you need a paper clip or a safety pin
Come see me, you can find one within
I try to keep things ever so neat
I’m here for you, I must repeat
I hold all your stuff like never before
I’m proud to be your little junk drawer.
Please don’t think about eliminating the clutter
It will make me sad and my heart will flutter
I love my gadget friends, they are all so dear
Please do not bring the garbage can anywhere near
It’s important you listen to what I have to say
Everything I hold you may need one day.
