The Kiss Of Sunrise

The day is finally waking up to greet me,

wide-eyed and bushy haired as I have been up for several hours already.

I see the hint of light peeking through the blinds,

and I hear clearly in my mind my grandmother's voice when I was so much younger

reminding me to "Make hay while the sun shines" and "The early bird catches the worm."

I hear the horn of the train in the distance as it warns of its approach.

The clack, clack, clack of the wheels on the track are so rhythmic.

No other sounds break through the air.

As I walk outside, I notice that the sky begins to take on a hint of orange

as the sun rises above the horizon.

Daytime stars seem to twinkle as the rays pass through the leaves

and branches of the bottle-brush tree,

kissing the dew that has settled like nights' tears on the grass below my feet.

The plants seem to awaken as the light gently dances across each one,

and they seem to stretch their leaves and stalks to say hello to the morning sun.

My face turns towards the sun and I let the first rays of the day gently kiss my cheeks,

my eyes closed, and my face slightly raised towards Heaven!

This song holds special significance for me. I can never listen to it without tears starting to fall.

Sending positive energy your way, Gina. The birds are singing your song my friend. Take your time and let nature help you heal.

Hi Shauna. Isn't that the truth? The simple things.... The last few days I've been watching the sunrise from my bed. It is not as thrilling as I do not get the full effect, but I hope to be able to watch that super moon on the 14th of November. I'm recovering from surgery just a few days ago and it has been a challenge. Once this week I have had to blacken my room because the sun gave me such a migraine. I felt so bad because I love the sunlight....but I await the day I can once again watch the sun rise in all its glory. I can still listen to nature wake up just outside my window and it's so beautiful.

Gina, it's the simple pleasures in life that make waking up each morning an adventure. I love sunrises. You can hear the birds awaken and speak to each other as the darkness lifts, making way for the sun. It's such a peaceful time of day.

Your last few lines remind me of me. I often lift my face to the sun, with eyes closed as it warms my soul and energizes my body.

Thanks for visiting, Venkatachari. Yes, it has been a rough ride this year, but I am determined to get well. I decided over the summer to do this art show. I mentioned it to a friend and things just started to fall into place. I am writing a hub about planning and the exhibit.

Hi Marlene. It's such a surreal experience. It doesn't matter how many times I watch the sun rise, there is something different about each one.

Yes, Gina. That was a tragic accident at Dreamworld. Thank you for your prayers for the families affected.

A beautiful poem describing the sunrise and surroundings. I enjoy it too so much.

Very sorry, Gina, to learn about the surgery and yet another to go through. I wish you all the best and for a speedy recovery.

Glad to learn about the art show that you are participating. Would like to see your art glimpses that are to be displayed and the results.

      My blessings.

Hi everyone. It's been so busy on my end. Sometimes we forget to just enjoy the simple beauties like this, and I needed the reminded recently, even though I am up before the sun everyday.

I've been recovering from one surgery, getting ready for another on November 8th, in addition to having an art show coming up on November 5th, so I have been putting a lot of energies into preparing for those. There's so much to be heard and seen in those early hours of the morning as the world and nature are waking up.

David, I like the sunset, also, and I have another poem I am writing about that. Manatita, yes, the energy from the sun can be so vibrant and energizing, yet at times it can seem so angry.

Thank you, Jodah, for visiting. Thank you for your remarks. Nora Jones is one of my favorite singers. I heard about the sad events with a theme park in Australia recently. Prayers for the families of those affected.

      Hope you are well.

Gina, this is an all around beautiful hub. The poem described the sunrise and nature beautifully. The sunrise time-lapse video was great, and Nora Jones song I loved. Well done.

Nicely done my friend. You certainly have a way with words in expressing your feelings. Dawning and sun sets are my favorite times of the day, one a new awakening, the other a putting to rest the day and welcoming night. Blessings. whonu
