The Love Of My Dad, The Skier
I sit and I think,
With a smile and a wink,
Of the days with my Dad,
What great times we had!
He loved to joke,
And kid around.
He'd make me laugh,
'TIl I was on the ground.
My sides would ache,
From laughing so hard.
He was so funny,
He was such a card!
The time he tried skiing,
In our yard on the hill.
All decked out and ready,
He wanted the thrill.
My sister and brother,
We're all ready too.
Mom & I in the house,
Watching & making stew.
Mom got the camera,
For pictures to take,
To put in an album,
Another memory to make.
Dad was all ready,
Smiling ear to ear,
He wanted to show us,
How it's done, with no fear.
He put on his goggles,
And poles in the snow,
But, there was something,
That he didn't know.
Where he was standing,
Just had to be,
The slipperiest part,
Of the hill ... so you see,
With a smile and a wave,
He moved just an inch,
To show us how it's done,
And that it's a synch.
To all our amazement,
He fell back on the ground,
And from all of us laughing,
Not a dry eye was found!
I dedicate this to my Dad who taught me the gift of laughter.
