The Meat Grinder (Poetry)

Updated on May 15, 2013

Corporate brainwashing
Painting a picture perfect life
Flashing subliminal messages
To dangle that carrot
So the bunnies keeps chasing

The cages are locked tight
The hamster wheels are well oiled
And the machine keeps running
With perfect efficiency

No matter what your beliefs
There's a band wagon for you to jump on
But all the wagons are part of the same parade
Cause the idealism isn't what's important

It's all a way to distract you
Keep you focused on misguided intentions
While they plunder you of the true treasures
That life is supposed to bring

Who cares if your family's disfunctional
Just keep watching the Kardashians
Their life is wonderful
Live vicariously through them

Pay no attention to your daughter
Who's in her room filming her first XXX tape
Don't worry about your son who just bought a gun
Waiting to pop a cap and up his street cred.

Corporate society has a place for all of you
There's plenty of room in the meat grinder
Just hop on in bunnies
But please leave your feet behind
They'll make a nice lucky charm
On Mr. Big Buck's key chain.

I always appreciate someone who is willing to tell it like he sees it. There is a deception that corporate America peddles and unfortunately that deception creeps into the lives of those who are trying to serve those who need us most-taking our efforts and throwing their corporate deceit into our faces, stripping us of what little confidence we once had in our abilities to serve, in our abilities to live...

Yes, we are victims of Corporate society. It's sad, indeed. We can just try working around it, though! Thanks for sharing!

This is great, sad but true. As an employee of corporate America, I couldn't agree more. I have lived just long enough to see it go around and come back again! Great expression, Jose! Thank you! up+ and sharing!

Hi buddy from Colin and his cats at lake erie time ontario canada 8:35pm and oh dear God I loved this one - you really do walk the walk and talk and talk here and no bullshit either - now you're gonna inspire my dark side again with this narrative masterwork - I've been a good boy lately but I think I may come out of my dark closet again, lol.

Love your words here - reminds me of Charles Bukowski, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Warren Zevon, Townes Van Zandt , Mike Ness of Social Distortion - you know all of the greats like you. Sending you warm wishes and good energy and there was a great movie I saw last night about Philly - Silver Linings Playbook
