The Nightmare

Updated on March 29, 2012

I am an artist, designer, photographer and writer. See more of my work on cmariearts.

It creeped up on me

From nowhere

A sign

My heart sank

Somewhere lost

Not to be defined

Winds that flung me

Tossed me aside

A beast came at me

No where to rest

No where to hide

His evil smirk

Made me sick

Thinking I was fragile

He tried eating me alive

I was too strong for him

Beyond that

I survived

The place of sleep

I did detest

It became my reality

My life a test

Where chances are met

A living protest

Nightmares come and go

In the darkest nights

Waking up the next morning

Happy to be alive

Well you know I love your work Caroline! Some of the greatest writers are the ones who show their side of light and their dark side! I've read many of your poetic themes and I must say I'm entertained by both temperaments! Good work as usual!

Happy to be alive--yes! But such an awful picture, Caroline--It scares me, as I have had at least two dreams in my life with such beasts onstage. Good poem though!
