The Pieces of My Life (Poetry)

Updated on May 21, 2013

Piece by piece
I piece this puzzle together
And slowly
The picture of my life
Is revealed.

The mystery
Of how a hundred kisses
Led to a dozen broken hearts
And why my heart needed to break
A dozen times for me to be loved
So completely

Many times before
I thought my puzzle complete
Only to find out one misplaced piece
Led to my entire world being shattered
I was left to pick up the pieces
And put them back together.

The last time it all came crashing down
I thought to give up
To just leave the pieces scattered
Where they lay
But I was so close
I had to give it one more try

So I took my time
Making sure each piece
Was where it belonged
And now I find myself
With the most beautiful picture yet

I'm hoping this time
All the pieces
Hold together
And I can finally know
Why my life was supposed to be this way.

Nicely expressed mate... on your path, you will find there are many times when you will need to bend down... sometimes to retie a lace, sometimes to pick up what may become yet another piece and sometimes, just to look closer at the path you are on and where the next turn may take you.

Never give up... your purpose is only starting to become testimony to the wisdom and knowledge that you have found on your path... there are many puzzles that make up one man's life... all the pieces to all of those puzzles, both found and yet undiscovered, lie within his heart. I appreciate what it takes to share the pieces of yours. Take care.. PD

Really clear, heartfelt voice here! We all have so many questions, but hearing each other echo the same ones makes life feel less lonely. Beautiful writing. ~Lurana

Jose, what a great put the words together like your puzzle to really give feeling to this piece. I think most of us have experienced these emotions you describe...and you did...describe them so well!

Moms-secret, I thought about that and I don't think the puzzle ever becomes complete till you are no longer alive, but I do feel you can have a good idea of whats in store.

what if our true worth in life was measured by the amount of completed pictures (memories) we made and our ability to continue rebuilding the puzzles?

This is lovely! And as I read it, it brought to mind one of my poems that is similar and sure enough it is here on your page! Great minds, I guess. I like the idea of things being slightly broken, but still beautiful! Voted up!

Very richly done and written. I love the photo -- the completed puzzle I presume. This is beautiful and so true. We struggle through life desperately trying to put the puzzle together and when we finally figure it out - true bliss. Well done and well written.

Sometimes in life, things remain a mystery. Other times, it will shed light unto things that will make you realize all the pain, hurt, and confusion you went through was for a reason. Beautiful poem. Continue to hope, continue to love, and continue to believe in the gift you were given. :)
