The Pieces of My Life (Poetry)
Piece by piece
I piece this puzzle together
And slowly
The picture of my life
Is revealed.
The mystery
Of how a hundred kisses
Led to a dozen broken hearts
And why my heart needed to break
A dozen times for me to be loved
So completely
Many times before
I thought my puzzle complete
Only to find out one misplaced piece
Led to my entire world being shattered
I was left to pick up the pieces
And put them back together.
The last time it all came crashing down
I thought to give up
To just leave the pieces scattered
Where they lay
But I was so close
I had to give it one more try
So I took my time
Making sure each piece
Was where it belonged
And now I find myself
With the most beautiful picture yet
I'm hoping this time
All the pieces
Hold together
And I can finally know
Why my life was supposed to be this way.
