The Poem That Started It All
Wanting To Know You (Written November 10, 1998)
That distant look in your eyes
It's unlike I've seen in other guys
The sadness hidden deep within
It's something kept beneath the skin
I want to get inside your head
And find the real you there instead
Why do you hide all your fears
And clown around before your peers
I guess I'll never get to know
Because this poem I'll never show
Can't you see that this is me
Hid quietly in this family
I write my thoughts upon this paper
And later decide which is safer
To tell you what I really see
Or to lock it up for eternity
