My friends:

it comes to me as no surprise

that poets have such little size

(over the market that is),

though we are so very wise.

a Google sized Panda

sits in demanda

and orchestrates our demise

for the purse has the power

to make us all cower

as we sum up

and write to its guise.

My first thought has already been expressed--very clever. I've been wanting to write more poetry but I let things get in the way. You've inspired me with your amusing but deft lines in this post. :)

So right on. We cower to the fists of the all mighty dollar and sacrifice art and music to the demands of the profit machine. Your poem expertly explains the dilemma.

As many have said...long live the poets of this world. Sad that they are not recognized as being worthy by Google because good poetry adds much to our lives just as does music, art and the written word. The written word just takes on special meanings in the hands of a good poet.

To lament the writers, poets and artists living in garrets set forth by a belief of a public at large...our fate of our art, or so it is thought. Love "demanda"...pretty much "sums" it up.

How true about the power of the purse! LOL! I love your poem and your poetry in general. I think it is better to write your poetry than make a huge amount of money from it, but the money would not be bad to have also. Why don't we value the most beautiful of written words?

Very clever! The poet’s imagination and creativity are harbingers of the soul…priceless, and incapable of being purchased or sold. Please keep writing, dear Audrey; Hubpages would be all the more asleep without the beautiful, unique voices such as yours that awaken and nourish us.

But where would we all be without poets like you? Through all the wars and hatred that humanity has managed to rain down on history, poets, writers, artists, musicians, have always been there to restore sanity. Long live the poets of the world my friend...and a very enjoyable little poem that speaks for us all.
