The Purple Voice
the purple voice
drips wax
from an underused pencil
tip charred
with the longing
of poetic thought
the pull toward metaphor
and meaning
guiding its paltry course
upon the line of logic
tracing its ubiquitous beginnings
to overly romantic novels
dripping in the hustle and rustle
of satin against skin
trying its damnedest
to avoid the obvious
the easily bought cliché
settling at a modicum
of tedium
of worry
