The Road to Nowhere

Updated on March 31, 2016

Road to Nowhere

Source

Dark Poem

A lost soul begs for it's release from a trapped, suffocating place

An existence ripe with shadows that linger through time and space

Working to seek higher ground from harsh blows life has dealt

A rocky road of pain exacerbated by lack of wealth

Tedious rituals provide respite for weary mind

From life's dense fog, cruel and unkind

Her travels always bringing despair

on an endless road leading nowhere

Prose versus Poetry Quote

I love this quote by Wu Qiao-it makes a great comparison between prose and poetry

"When you write in prose, you cook the rice. When you write poetry, you turn rice into rice wine. Cooked rice doesn't change its shape, but rice wine changes both in quality and shape. Cooked rice makes one full so one can live out one's life span . . . wine, on the other hand, makes one drunk, makes the sad happy, and the happy sad. Its effect is sublimely beyond explanation." - Wu Qiao

Wikipedia's Definition of Prose versus Poetry

Poetry versus prose according to Wikipedia:

Poetry (from the Latin poeta, a poet) is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its apparent meaning.

Prose is the most typical form of language. The English word 'prose' is derived from the Latin prōsa, which literally translates as 'straight-forward.'

Evil is a source of moral intelligence in the sense that we need to learn from our shadow, from our dark side, in order to be good.

This was an interesting poem Linda. Did you write it because you wanted to or because you have writer's block? Perhaps you need a break. It was good whatever the reason. I voted it up and pinned it.

Beautiful, and certainly dark. I can imagine it being read out in the `Thriller' voice! A very emotive poem too. I think many of us have been there when we think the world is closing in on us. That need to break out, and the fear that any path we take could make the situation worse.
