The Scent of Magnolias

Updated on February 7, 2013

With the faint sound

of hooting owls

in the distant woods

on a night

lit by candlelight

amidst the fragrant scent of magnolias

in the damp evening air -

My fingers

gently touch

your face

as you move closer and closer

looking into my glazed eyes

longing for devotion

mesmorized by beauty

on a spiritual level

feeling love and desire

burning like fire

consuming you

like heat to wax

but this time

you see a glimpse

of your soul reflected

as you fix your eyes

on the mirror of my mind

there to find truth

so clear

and the joys and sorrows

of yesteryear

Now you may have peace

now you cease to seek

that which has eluded you -

a most natural communion

made not in heaven

but found here on earth

living together

entwined as one

under the moonlight

of a starry night

in love.

This is how poets dance, with their words. I can hear the music .. See the dance floor .. Feel myself swaying with the melodies of the night .. Perfect, this piece is just perfect. You managed to create a whole world with your words.Beautiful love poem.It flows smoothly.Good job!

      I loved it :)

@always exploring - many thanks once again.

@Epigramman - I can only hope to use my monumental quill to write as proficiently and prolifically as the great Epigramman. Many thanks for your rave review here Colin.

@Gypsy Rose Lee - Thanks for sharing.... Cheers

...again there's a line in here that hinted it might be about yours truly -

"with the faint sound of hooting owls' ...... oh yeah , it's got to be about me.

I so do love your poetic grasp of impressionism in your words.

It's sweetly romantic with the gender awe of femininity.

No one captures the essence of this literary genre better than you Miss M of the monumental quill.
