Love Abides In The Sorrow

Updated on April 17, 2013

Because I stood in love's sunshine, I now stand in love's shadow. The shadow exists because there was sunshine. I wouldn’t know sorrow, if I didn’t know joy. This pain and joy need to be understood and appreciated. I can not hate the sorrow because it was born of the love. If you can mourn with me, also rejoice with me.

This IS My Pain, This IS My Joy

I'm sad.

Please allow me the sadness,

Because I was happy with him.

I'm lonely.

Please allow me the loneliness,

Because I had the nearness of him.

I cry.

Please allow me the tears,

Because I laughed with him.

I dream.

Please allow me to dream,

Because, I dream of him.

I remember.

Please allow me to reminisce,

Because, I love the memories of him.

When I am lost,

Please let me remember

His love always led me.

When I stumble,

Please let me remember

He always gave me his hand.

When I love less,

Please let me remember

He gave all of his love.

When I feel the emptiness,

Please let me rejoice in

The fullness of our life.

When I feel his void,

Please let me rejoice in

The treasure of our children.

When I feel the distance...

Please don't let me feel the distance,

Let me share what's in my heart.

A shadow was cast October 12th, 2010 however, the warmth of the sunshine will linger as long as I live. My love he'll always be.

You're allowed to do as you ask,

your love was great and not a task.

Your pain is evident by the words you write,

your sorrow longing for your lost to hold you tight.

Yet, remember, you've still much to give,

you're appreciated by those you've brought to live.

And those of us wish you nothing but well,

we sit and await the stories you can tell.

Your purpose in life is definitely not done,

you've many to love, not just the one.

So share the beauty you hold within,

transfer your thoughts, it's time to begin!

Nothing will ever replace your loved one. I can't imagine living without my wife of 32 years. Yet, there's obviously something left for you to do and share. I welcome your talent!

My beloved left this sphere Sept. 5, 2008. I feel his nearness always, but miss the actual presence greatly. "The Shadow of Your Smile" is a song which expresses it.

Thanks for your kind words on my own hubs. You are indeed blessed to have know the love of a good man. But the pain of losing must be so much greater because of that. You have all my love and sympathy.

Another moving hub. It was especially moving while listening to "Autumn Leaves" while reading. This is a beautiful tribute to your husband (I assume). Voted up.
