The Silent Enemy Slain

Updated on July 19, 2020

Poetry is turning out to be a very cathartic medium, I should do this more often.

Set the Mood

We will win this war.
We will win this war. | Source

It crept up upon us quiet and proud,

There were very few who expected its arrival.

Facts hidden behind a mysterious shroud,

Leaving human kindness in need of revival.

Wear a mask and keep away,

The cries never seem to end.

For this enemy came to stay,

With a will that would not bend.

The first to fall were the weakest,

For their loss we continue to mourn.

Those hiding away see the outcome as bleakest,

But I face the enemy head-on with scorn.

Our enemy is one like a coward,

It attacks only when we lose focus.

Social relations only becoming more sour,

As rigid ideologues plague us like locust.

Stand with courage against this plague,

We’ll push through as we always do.

I know human victory seems far off and vague,

But eventually this stupid virus will rue.

@MG: One thing is certain, this virus has shown that the POTUS is not the type to handle crises outside of finances well. My confidence in the offices of power has further eroded, the illusion seems like it is crumbling, and tyranny has made its foundation firm with sentiments such as those behind the BLM movement. An enemy that will need to be undermined from the inside has taken root, but like all our enemies it will be torn out and tossed in the garbage.

As for the rest of the world, I can only hope we all sue the pants off of China. All the biological evidence points to purposeful manipulation in a lab, and the coincidence of the lab in Wuhan is too coincidental, or so says the top minds studying the origins of this virus in earnest and not the mainstream media dogs.

We shall see, but I have hope knowing we can surpass these meager problems!

@John: Strangely enough, this virus hasn't been something to touch me personally yet. I'm sure it will at some point and my perspective will change, but as of yet the virus for me has been that of human folly and willingness to succumb to illogical demands. Unfortunately my lifestyle can't be used as a general model, but I'm most certainly evidence that this virus is a meager enemy worthy of disdain.

@Danny: Heck yeah! We'll have this virus in check in no time flat! Relatively of course, but this virus is just waiting to be defeated!

Wonderful poem on the virus. With this poem you have drawn attention to this virus and who ever originated it by mistake or otherwise did a great disservice to mankind. The human race has seen worse pandemics and I am sure it will survive this also but it will change the political and power structure of the world. I wonder if that is a good or bad thing.

This virus has unfortunately become a reality we all have to learn to live with. When and if it will be defeated and we come up with a viable vaccine time will tell. The human race is resilient though so we will overcome, though we continue to mourn the victims. I like Your poem and the Disturbed video.

Yes, we will win this war. Human beings have faced many insurmountable problems with an indomitable spirit. We will eventually win.
