The Silent Enemy Slain
Set the Mood
It crept up upon us quiet and proud,
There were very few who expected its arrival.
Facts hidden behind a mysterious shroud,
Leaving human kindness in need of revival.
Wear a mask and keep away,
The cries never seem to end.
For this enemy came to stay,
With a will that would not bend.
The first to fall were the weakest,
For their loss we continue to mourn.
Those hiding away see the outcome as bleakest,
But I face the enemy head-on with scorn.
Our enemy is one like a coward,
It attacks only when we lose focus.
Social relations only becoming more sour,
As rigid ideologues plague us like locust.
Stand with courage against this plague,
We’ll push through as we always do.
I know human victory seems far off and vague,
But eventually this stupid virus will rue.
