For National Poetry Month #16

In the singer’s heart,

dwells the child

who once jumped from rock to rock

without fear of falling.

Open

In the singer’s heart,

the soul flies

across emotional terrain

mapped in the path between sonority and lip,

freed from the bondage

of the mundane dance of chores.

Free

The singer’s heart

touches the land

with the paint of emotions

unhurried in timbre,

unpocketed by man,

each in its own time.

Expressive

In the singer’s heart,

vibration blooms

and spills

and fills

every cell

as intention is born

and the soul is voiced.

In the singer’s heart, lies love.

The best personification of a singers heart I felt was that of a child... no fear at all... in all the jumps and falls.. just shear belief and passion

      beautifully written... mellow poetry!

An excellent singer and a great poet both express their emotions from the heart - one through his expressive singing, the other through his expressive poem.

And I believe singing and poetry is a Divine gift.

      Expressive and heartfelt poem.

Yes, I'm browsing your page! I love this piece. It is not only brilliantly written, but the message speaks to me so well. As a singer, I learned and have advised that no matter what quality of voice you have, if you don't sing from your heart it will always fall flat.

I love your work Audrey. Up and I'm sharing.

This is a beautiful poem Audrey and says so much for anyone who has sung in choral groups or bands or solo even. It captures the essence and spirit of the act of singing.

Yes indeed your words echo your music in my ears. I love the singers voice you've brilliantly laid out here. Music is a gift from the heart and without it, we would be in a very sad world. You wove this like the brilliant poet you are. Voted Up, tweeted and shared.

Can one imagine a world without music? I cannot but feel sadness when I listen to beautiful music and my thoughts wander to a grand daughter who is hearing impaired. How her singer's heart must wish to be set free and "the soul is voiced". In this regard your poem touch me deeply.
