The Song Of Life in Me

By: Toni Whisenant

My heart beats as if creating the bass.

My breath quickens as if keeping the pace.

My feet moving to such a rhythmic sound.

My mouth smiling as I lift off the ground.

Moving my hips to the sullen sway

Of the music calling my melodious name.

Again and again I look to the skies

To see myself dancing, as if through Goddess' eyes.

My voice sings to bring sound to the mix.

My hands beat to portray my musical fix.

My fingers tingle as if they have a life of their own.

My ears hear the sounds of my body, unknown.

Spinning around with music in my ears

My arms held out to embrace the spirits near.

Nature calling me in such a way

That I sing to it in complete array.

My toes feel the grass beneath my feet.

My arms held out to feel the radiant heat.

My legs moving ever faster and faster.

Love is my chain and music is my master.

My voice flows and falls and flows again.

If joy is wrong then my happiness is sin.

In this beautiful dance of life

Only I can inspire the extraneous flight.

The nature creates a beautiful sound.

A song of every living thing around.

Slow down and take a breath

And smell the sweet scent

Of nature itself and love, all intended

To make one sit and hear the blended

Music the Goddess has nurtured in which

We should sit and hear the wonderful bliss.

I have come to hear and to see

The Song of Life that is in me.

@Sweets21: Thank you. :) I try my hardest to write poetry that cant be mistaken for anything less than beautiful. @rjsadowski: I tried to convey that vision in my poem. I literally hear everything as a song sometimes, and when that happens, all I want to do is dance to the sweet song of life.

@epigramman: Thank you so very much. Your comments mean so very much to me. I am honored. I tried to recreate a rhythm of words that one can hear and feel and see all in one. I tried to captivate my readers, entrance even.

...so excited by your incredible medley of words in supreme lyrical context - that I must correct myself in the caption above - 'this just may be the greatest melody of words I've read in quite some time.
