The Speed of Business - A Poem
Gotta think, gotta think, gotta think fast,
Deadlines are looming, product is zooming
Won’t say can’t, must stay relevant
Tasks piled high, ask myself why, great sigh
Close my eyes and visualize
Again, and again, and again
Speed is what I need, can’t have brain drain
Competition is at my door, questions soar
Expectations run too high, can’t let it die
Business plan kept in the garbage can
Every one waiting on the next big thing
Instant gratification is what they need
The status quo is the way to go
Give us more, more, more, what’s in store
Evolve and learn, then evolve some more
Feed their need, the culture of speed
Gotta link and type and text and skype
The solution found in evolution
Vacancies, efficiencies, and eventually
The need for speed will overcome me
Ashes, ashes, the business falls down
Bleary eyes locked in the spiral stare
Down, down, lower than the ground
The product flow is just to slow
Relevance gone in a flash along with cash
Gotta think, gotta think, gonna sink
Block them out, scream and shout
What it is that’s eluding me?
Mountain of stress, I’m a total mess
Circuits fail, workers wail, world is pale
Seconds tick, feeling sick, all too quick
Pack it up and take it home
Working Chrome like some kind of drone
Getting late, can’t concentrate
Night begins, my only sin
Tomorrow it all starts again
