The Treasure Map

The Treasure Map

Fun was something foreign,
a most elusive thing...
It seems that it was beyond my grasp
and but a fairy's ring...

I heard the term but knew it not,
thus, envy was my friend...
until the day that Truth revealed
what Life could but portend...

I did not know what it could be,
not who or where or what...
or why it was beyond my scope
of comprehension, but...

Then, one day, a miracle
fell unbidden, to my lap...
a nugget of the finest gold...
a hidden treasure map.

Well, not a map, as such, appeared
but something just as fine...
a golden nugget of hidden truth
that fun would thus consign...

It was not a who or what, or
where this map did lead...
The concept that was given
was but an attitude, a seed!

And with it came the knowledge
that would redesign my world
and held the key to happiness
within it's fingers curled.

Now I cannot explain this, but
today, it's clear to me...
that fun happens when I live in
a state of mind capri...

Anything I do in Life...
if done with Gratitude...
can be quite, yet, enjoyable,
in celestial latitude.

Fun is what I make of it
At any given place or timeā€¦
If I have the attitude of
A grateful state of mind.

It's what transpires between my ears
that holds the key to fun...
And I can transform anything
to a dance in midnight sun.

And I would share this map with you
that treasure you would find...
Yes, gratitude is where it's at,
this grateful state of mind.

This poem is so full of wisdom - you have truly found the key to fun and happiness. It's incredible to know that all it takes is this kind of epiphany to change a person's whole outlook on life. I don't know when I found the treasure map, but it was a few years ago - life has been rosy ever since, despite bad things happening from time to time.

      Linda.

Awww, Epigramman, thanks! I gotta tell ya tho...for most of my life I was a sad, sad gal...went for years without smiling or laughing and all but gave up on the hope of happiness (or my idea of it)...and then one day something magical and miraculous occurred and I havent stopped smiling since! something internal and private and spiritual...and it has alot to do with attitude and gratitude...and what you read here on my hubs is pretty much the result...I so cherish you and your support and your friendship!

You found the key to happiness!

So often time it happens, we all live our life in chains, and we never even know we have the key. ~The Eagles, "Already Gone"

Ah yes, attitude/gratitude is what it's all about. You can make gold out of dirt if you have the right attitude of gratitude. Great poem.
