The Trouble With Letting Go (Poetry)

Updated on May 23, 2013

We sailed in rough waters
Weathered a storm or two
There wasn't a fiber in my soul
That believed I wasn't meant for you

But fickle Fate
Had a card up her sleeve
She played the one hand
I could never believe

She took your heart away
Left it to the care of another
And I was left with the memories
Of a long lost lover

I tried to let go
I tried to move on
But how can you live
When your reason to live is gone

How can you live
When your reason to live is gone
How can you live
When your reason to live is gone
I tried to let go
I tried to move on
But how can you live
When your reason to live is gone

No. I normally write to music to help me keep the rhythm of the poem.

Sometimes it is hard to let go. I have been there.

Sometimes that's the way it feels. How can love be so glorious and yet so painful?
