the way through

contains its own detours

each a perilous diversion

imbued with false light.


paths fettered

with pebbles

sink into the small of my foot

as I step carefully

through the burdens of each,


balancing the caption

above my head

the one

made famous

by some erstwhile poet

who trod these paths long before me


the path least known,

least trod upon

makes all the difference

      "The way through" has not just diversions but also distractions, attractions and reservations. The best is to carve a path for ourselves following closely that which was left by our forerunners. A very revealing poem.
