The World of Undiscovered Poets: Lisette Reina (A.K.A Mom's-Secret)

Updated on May 30, 2013

When I first started on my journey to discover some of the most talented undiscovered poets in the world, I knew I would come across unique individuals who would have a fresh perspective on life. What I didn't realize was, in reading their words I would come to learn something about myself in the process. The poet I would like you all to meet has had only a short period of time to impact me in this way, but her words have reached me on a level I never knew existed.

Lisette Reina

Lisette was raised in Brooklyn, New York, a fact that she does not regret because she was exposed to a lot of culture, but like most kids who grow up in tough cities, Lisette had to grow up a little faster. Adversity has a way forcing a person to evolve. This evolution can lead a person to walk on the path of darkness or light depending on that person's strength of character. Judging by Lisette's poem The Life of a Diamond, I have to believe her evolution was a change for the better.

Lisette's writing is an interesting blend of darkness and light. With poetic influences ranging from Dr. Seuss to Edgar Allen Poe, her poetry covers a broad spectrum of ideas, but the one constant I have noticed about her writing is that Lisette reveals bits and pieces about herself in everything she writes. Lisette alludes to this theme in her poem Kindred, where she almost dares the reader to get to know her through her writing rather than trying to meet her face to face.

Lisette Reina is not just a poet, but a creative writer as well. She already has one book published called SJR: See Jane Run which is a psychological thriller that really showcases Lisette's story telling abilities. Lisette likes being a bit of a mystery. She prides herself on her ability to make her readers feel her words, and this is her personal contribution to the world of poetry. Her words have made me feel on an entirely different level, and these feelings are only intensified as I try to unravel the mystery that is Lisette Reina aka Moms-Secret. I challenge you to learn more about this talented poet by visiting the links below.
