The Yawn Of Life

Updated on November 1, 2011

New Life

This wiggling stripling child

Once sleeping beneath my ribs

Our hearts beating in rhythms

I am with you, outside now

I see something of myself lingering

On your face

The dimple in your cheek

The color of your hair

The shape of your eyes

I suddenly feel a warmth

Knowing I have given these to you

You have transcended the womb

A genetic translation

You are a miracle and magic

I'm me, and you're you.

They say that once a child leaves the womb, mother and child need time to bond. I believe they have been bonding for the past 9 months as the child begins to take form and grow. Only God can get closer to a child.

      Morning Ann.

Only a woman or should i say a mother could show such love as in this poem.

Take care Ann and have a lovely day.

I love this. You capture that first time your baby is placed in your arms so well. That little miracle makes you want to sing, shout, laugh and cry all at the same time. There is nothing to match the feeling of that special moment.

      Voted up and away

So beautifully worded to warm the heart of the coldest person, (I don’t know one.)

Babies are a gift to be cherished and loved.

      Great work.

Hi Ann, really lovely poem. My children are adults now but I still remember how it felt to hold them as newborns.

There's nothing like a mother's love and it comes so freely when she sees the product of her long labor...a love of a lifetime. Nicely done! WB
