The leaders of this world

Updated on August 5, 2011

The leaders of this world
do they really lead
or are they an illusion
an illusion that we feed

Are the decisions
that they make
really theirs
or by others made

Can they actually
make a change
can they really

A world in chaos
and in distress
where fear now rules
and more is less

Can they end
our misery
can they ever
set us free

No they can’t
and I’ll tell you why
they have no power
they can’t even try

To begin to make
that needed change
for things are just
not planned that way

They have to dance
to the Elite’s sung song
and if they don’t
they won’t last long

All are puppets
in a worldly play
and people listen
to what they say

Carefully chosen
by colour and breed
to fulfil the Elite’s
most special needs

The leaders do
not really lead
they are an illusion
that we feed

Epigramman, I'm flattered. And funny you should say that because I wrote a Hub called "LadyFae for President" lol.

Inauguration in rhyme would be the kick off.

....well with the way you write I would like to make you one of our leaders of this world - and then at the very least we could all be in poetic harmony and hubpeace!

Yes Ubanichijioke, elections world wide are merely a puppet show. History has surely shown us that.

And thank you for your comment. Its good seeing you here.

i concur with you. Looking at the world [global warming, poverty, earthquakes, death, pestilence] to mention but a few. All these highlight the failures of many a goverment. In Nigeria, when election campaigns commence politicians will carry their ugly faces and pot-bellies promising heaven and earth which never see the light of the day. Let me stop here cos if i continue, day will break. Thanks for bringing this to light

Superb work! I think this poem highlights the problems with our world leaders and the world in general, better than an article would. Voted up + awesome!

Of course! Leadership is all about responsibility not power. Today everythings goes about power (and money). In the old days noone liked to be the chief, but it was his life path. :)
