The Turning -- Chapter 2

Updated on April 11, 2012

The Meeting

I stood frozen like the rest of the people in the street. The only difference was that, I was looking at them, and they were looking at the sky. I started to walk toward the center of the street, where they were gathered and the first woman I came up to was whimpering beneath her breath. " Is it the end of the world?" I heard her tell a man who was standing nearby, then she moved closer to him and slowly grabbed his hand, clenching it tight.

" I don't know whats going on, but it seemed to have stopped now", he said looking at me. The eerie quiet was broken again by a rumbling of the rainstorm clouds in the distance. the storm had moved far off over the small mountains. "Wow, that was pretty scary", I said to the couple. "Was that a U.F.O. that I saw pull the camper up? "

"I didn't see nothing like that, but I heard a hell of an explosion, " the man said. Noticing that the crowd was starting to disperse, I tried to see if any of them would talk but none of the people would make eye contact with me. "Did anybody see that? " I hollered, almost to myself. the crowd ignored me like I wasn't there.

" I saw it," the woman said." It was all shiny and the colors were like a rainbow".

The man suddenly turned towards her and gave her a look, the kind that said you are talking to much !

She looked at me with apprehension in her eyes I could tell that she wanted to say something but was afraid. Her fear was beginning to affect me, all of a sudden I became nervous about the situation.

"I know what I saw, and it had to be a UFO." I said, looking at the man who had eerily moved in front of the woman in a blocking movement.

The man grabbed her hand and said, "let's go honey, I don't want to listen to this nonsense." As he pulled her away she looked back at me with very sad eyes, like a little dog that was being taken by a dog catcher.

I was startled by a young women that had come up behind me quietly, like a cat sneaking up on it's prey. I didn't hear her until she talked to me. "It won't do no good to talk to any body around here mister ",she said. "They are all scared to talk."

As I turned to face her, she was wearing blue jeans and had long brown hair. I was stunned to see the bluest eyes, i had ever seen. Her long brown hair shined because it was wet from the rain. "What do you mean?" I asked her. "I know what I saw, how could they not see it , the truck the explosion?"

"Come with me," she said," lets walk and we can talk along the way, they are already starting to notice you, Hurry follow me, if you value your life."
