The Flower (poem)
Oh lonely flower drifting in the sand
What melancholy memory
Has sent you sailing back to me
Perhaps only a tear can see
How things got out of hand
-
The hour my sweet flower is less grand
The band has lost the melody
Which often set our passions free
And as we waited patiently
How things got out of hand
-
We danced all night and through our day
Held all the world within our sway
And for the seasons of dismay
Another kiss was on its way
-
My flower without dreams the world turns bland
Now moments drag on endlessly
Are not delights they used to be
It’s there we lost our clarity
How things got out of hand
-
We danced through night to greet our day
And from our sides why would we stray
And for each season set astray
Another kiss was on its way
-
We danced that night and met our day
When gentle whispers would betray
And seasons took my kiss away
I love you dear was all I’d say
-
Sweet flower did it end as you had planned
Alone with me beside a sea
Which reaches through eternity
In search of lost forgotten key
How things got out of hand
How things got out of hand
