The Promise of a Dream (poem)

Updated on September 4, 2014

It’s waiting there beside that lonely road

His reason for a new and brighter day

The promise of a dream that never showed

-

Who knows the fabric that this one was sewed

Whose welcome smile was never far away

It’s waiting there beside that lonely road

-

Who knows the hopes and Joys with which he strode

Whose welcome warmth oft set soft fears astray

The promise of a dream that never showed

-

When he appeared how calm the wind then flowed

To tell Joy’s tears to wash away dismay

It’s waiting there beside that lonely road

-

Yet not a soul dared secret there was stowed

Blind eyes without a single word to say,

The promise of a dream that never showed

-

Now where is he to whom so much was owed

Pray what will chase the clouds away today

It’s waiting there beside that lonely road

The promise of a dream that never showed

I'm not sure exactly what about made me feel this way, but I really enjoyed the poem as a whole and I find myself reading the ending over and over.
