There's No Difference

Updated on November 22, 2013

What are you afraid of?
Are you hiding your shame?
You don’t think you’re pretty
And you run away from pain

You want an assurance
A promise for your life
You don’t play games anymore
You know what that’s like

You see how it might be
But you hear the echo’s in your head
You don’t trust the words anymore
Because all you feel is dread

There’s no difference
In the way we feel
There’s no difference
In the way we heal
I know how much it hurts
I know the pain is real
But all we do is waste
What fear knows how to steal

I can’t change the past for you
I can’t make it go away
You ask me what I want
But I can’t think past the day

You are saving yourself
But will there be anything left to spend?
Maybe there’s someone else
To protect what you can’t mend

There’s no difference
In the way we feel
There’s no difference
In the way we heal
I know how much it hurts
I know the pain is real
But all we do is waste
What fear knows how to steal
