A Teacher's Students - Special Education - In A Poem

Some Of My Reasons

My Reasons

©2012 LaDena Campbell aka justateacher

Clinton was the one who smiled

Courtney had a great giggle

Ethan couldn’t sit a minute

Without his little wiggle

Drew was quiet, never talked

LaRance was the football pro

Dru didn’t have a home

It didn’t stop her though

Commora couldn’t do much

Caiden sucked his thumb

Jason is a really big mess

None of them like to be called dumb

Ben came in not reading

Haley couldn’t sit still

Gabby stayed true to her name

Caleb didn’t know what was real

Kyle had a little lisp

That never went away

Derek was a great artist

Rickie lives in another world

Where all they do is play

All of these kids were

Once wonderful students of mine

They have all grown up

Through the passage of time

Every now and then

One comes back to visit me

I see what they have become in life

It’s a wonderful thing to see!

This was so cute...so realistic, by a caring person such as you. We need more of 'you' around!

This is so sweet. I haven't taught nearly as much as you have, but I love it and my students. I love that I could really feel your level of attention and affection in this piece. I hope you keep teaching for many years, kids need teachers like you. Voted up!

This is great! It must be very gratifying for you when old students visit and you see how they have grown and what they have become. To know you had a part in all that would be very satisfying. Thanks for sharing this glimpse into your world!

I love this! And I love how you are writing so many poems about something you are passionate about. You make a difference as a teacher, and now you are making a difference as a writer. Way to go! Voted up and all the way across. Great job. I'm so touched by your poem and these special kids.
