My Reasons

Clinton was the one who smiled
Courtney had a great giggle
Ethan couldn’t sit a minute
Without his little wiggle
Drew was quiet, never talked
LaRance was the football pro
Dru didn’t have a home
It didn’t stop her though
Commora couldn’t do much
Caiden sucked his thumb
Jason is a really big mess
None of them like to be called dumb
Ben came in not reading
Haley couldn’t sit still
Gabby stayed true to her name
Caleb didn’t know what was real
Kyle had a little lisp
That never went away
Derek was a great artist
Rickie lives in another world
Where all they do is play
All of these kids were
Once wonderful students of mine
They have all grown up
Through the passage of time
Every now and then
One comes back to visit me
I see what they have become in life
It’s a wonderful thing to see!
