Over Coffee

Over Coffee

They met over coffee...
She fell into those eyes,
captured by the spell of
those witty, sweet replies.
The chemistry, electric,
made her cheeks begin to blush...
her hopeful heart was pounding
in a rhythmic, dancing rush.

They met over coffee...
her smile lit up the room.
The atmosphere was scented
by her delicate perfume.
Her voice was soft and lilting,
her laugh a gentle ring.
The twinkle in her smiling eyes
made the angels sing.

They met over coffee...
This is how it all began,
A spark that would smoulder
and ignite as if by plan...
and long would they remember
where it was they met and fell
into the arms of romance
cast by cappuccino's spell.

Epi, I get distracted by my alter ego! lol...I have contemplated a marriage but it seems like oil and water to me....but then, that could make a heck of a tasty Italian dressing...we could serve a wonderful meal of salad and gumbo with coffee for dessert!

...well I'd love to meet you over coffee ...I must come here more often for a coffee date - I keep getting distracted by your alter ego - have you ever thought of combining the two? Like the epi-man - lol - he puts 'everything' into his melting pot - lol lol - and let's it simmer like a good spicy chicken gumbo - lol

Denise, I owe this one to you! Your proposed ending was perfect but I felt guilty, stealing it! So I had to make it mine, somehow. I still feel a bit guilty but this ending works better for me personally. I do thank you for your suggestion!

No_Clue-you're ending fits right in both with the coffee theme and the (cupid) 'magic' theme. Cool. :)

Beautiful poem-thoroughly enjoyed it, although, I could have bet (and lost) that the last line would have read something like:

...and long would they remember where it was they met, and fell

into the arms of romance, captured by that coffee smell.

      :)

I related to the sweet emotion and feeling of hopefulness you gave this piece. I could sense the excitement in the beginnings of love. I feel the romance and your piece kept perfect time with the upbeat feelings of love's first happiness. The outdoor cafe sets the ambiance of this encounter and made me think about that feeling of being the only two people in the world right then and there. You captured it, No_Clue, perfectly.
