This April's Fool
This April's Fool
This was the day
it all began.
It started out
with raisin bran...
a bit of fiber
and a bit of fruit,
from a little seed,
a weed took root.
April first was
very near...
tomorrow came
and it was here.
I had a plan
to pay respect,
to play a game
I can't neglect.
Now my dear mum
gets such a fright
whene're a mouse
should come to sight.
So I did place
a rubber mouse...
within that box
yes, I, the louse.
And then I served
my mother dear
a breakfast that
I fetched with cheer.
Held the chair
for her to sit...
then bustled with
my preplanned wit.
With innocence
I feigned to set
a meal that I
would much regret.
A cup of brew
in a favorite cup,
just the thing
to wake her up.
A bowl and spoon
and sugar too,
and box of bran,
her favorite, true.
Raisin bran
was just the thing
to make my dear mum's
taste buds sing.
It all went off
without a hitch
except for but
one single glitch...
When she poured
her raisin bran,
she grabbed a cast iron
frying pan...
Trying to kill
that rubber thing,
my mum delivered
a savage swing...
Hit my head and
knocked me out,
a single blow,
with mighty clout!
A lesson came to
roost that day
when for my wit
I had to pay.
This April Fool,
in brilliant plan...
hid a mouse
in raisin bran!
