Those Little Things in Life - Poetry
It’s the little things that mean a lot
Or so we are told
A single rose, a card, a touch
Never does grow old
It’s the little things that remain so dear
A hug, a sympathetic ear
From friends who share our hurts
And understand our tears
Hearts are easily broken
When harsh words are spoken
More painful than bones broken
With a careless thought or token.
A smile can light up a room
Sweeps away sadness and doom
Shines sunlight through the gloom
Sweeps it all away like a broom
Laughter heals the soul
That sadness holds
It quickens and mends
Draws family and friends
And brings joy to both young and old
How sweet the smell of a tiny babe
Freshly dressed and newly bathed
Bundled up and soft as silk
Satisfied with mother’s milk
Sweetly sleeping safe and warm
Angles protecting from every storm
Perfectly formed right from the start
A blessing given from God’s own heart
