Thoughts :: A Poem
When I was studying Literature, I found the world of poetry fascinating, my favorite being 'On his Blindness' by Milton. This one is among the first few that I wrote and as I graduated from college in '99, I had a handful of these in my journal. Here's my 'Thoughts' for you...
Thoughts are like busy fireflies,
Competing for their share of light,
From the evergreen inspiring source,
Traversing to unimaginable extremes,
Wavering from zero to high tides,
But somehow, ebbing to practically nothing...!!
That humble one bestows pleasure,
So much--a man could drown in it,
Simply because it is an ego booster,
Or a potent potion of delight...
Yet it sucks away on its return,
A price paid in dark despair,
A bubble pricked to practically nothing...!!
The mind chases their turned backs,
Calling and pleading the guests to stay,
A few return in changed clothes arrayed,
Shaping my soul towards the right track,
Without these loyals, I would be practically nothing...!!
