Through The Eyes Of A Child Then And Now.
I'll never forget times spent on the muddy banks
The canal where eel's and schools of fish swam
Oh, what a time we had
sliding from the muddy banks into the clear beautiful water
where for a moment, the joyous laughter of Children echoed
Not knowing the implication
That poverty was the legacy left to us
Innocent of the associated stigma, We played
An Uncle not much older, but wise beyond his years
made a lavish meal of "Peppa pot", and fried wild eel
There on the banks of the beautiful canal flowing free, water lilies sprouted
The big tree that majestically grew In the front of the yard
Sheltered me from the rays of the Sun as I read or played
I'd skip and pick of succulent fruits, along the banks of the canal
untouched by the shame of poverty
For: A memory of living with my Mothers Brothers and Sisters on the banks of the Canal. On this particular Day, it was really fun. My Uncle Banny, I have forgotten a great many things, but this one memory still lingers favorably.
