Through shackles of War, RACISM and Segregation we Overcome " I am BLACK & I am proud of it"
They tried their best to shatter our hopes
our dreams and longing for life. They threw
their evil darts of hatred, segregation, racism
and Antisemitism at us. But ,we OVER CAME.
In bondage they held us as slaves like the Egyptians
held the Israelite. Tried to deprive us of living, of being
a human of having the right to be a human, to be free. They did
well in belittling us with their hatred campaign. They
auctioned us like cars, we had no worth.
Making us work like asses in their fields treating
us like filth. Shouting at us like we were dogs,
calling us nigger ,” com here boy and gyal”
they used, abuse, refuse and left us confused.
We had no right to breathe, no right to school,
no right to say yes or no, no rights to ride the bus,
use the washrooms etc. We were dogs, apes the scum
of the earth. But, we OVER CAME.
They tried to destroyed our hearts and souls, to make us
become like demons, to hate, to lose our faith in GOD.
The right to freedom ,enjoyment, family and time were taken away
from us. They tried to make us believe that they are better
than us. But we OVER CAME, God designed us with courage,
strength and stamina like no other race. We can take and take
and still be strong, we forgive, we love those who were evil
to us. We can sing and dance in the rain though the storm
beat us on our backs.
The marks we carry around is still hidden
in our hearts, the humiliation etc, was forgiven but not forgotten
Through WAR, RACISM and Segregation we OVERCOME!
