Till The Day I Die

Updated on August 10, 2013

I cherish her dearly

For she has watched over me

Since the morning I first awoke

And still to this day

She is faithfully there

Waving to me as I drive by

Dressed in her pretty

Red and white striped skirt

And stars in her blue eyes…

She is a little under the weather today

For the heavens are clouded and gray overcast

And though she is feeling low

It’s because she is flying half mast

I know she will be true

Till I take my last breath

And at the last she will be there

Folded in the lap of my wife

The one to whom I said

Till death do us part…I do

And to you, Old Glory, I say

Till the day I die

I salute you

One nation, under God....for liberty and justice for all. Hard not to get choked up when I think of those words.

So lovely, Dad. The strong love between the two of you is so beautiful, I can definitely see you two being a little old couple still making each other laugh instead of swearing at each other all the time! I love you both very much! Voted up and sharing!

Wayne, wonderful job done here! It certainly pulls on those patriotic heartstrings. You closed it strongly and poignantly with the folded flag. You should be proud of this one! Voted up and more!
