Time On Our Hands

Updated on April 17, 2013

You're such a busy bee.
You're always on the go.
I stay busy too,
But for when things are slow.

We’ll busy ourselves with this.

We’ll busy ourselves with that.

We’ll busy ourselves with a tiff,

And giving a tit for a tat.

There are so many obligations,

For everyone, including you.

We’ll busy ourselves with abstaining,

From all these things to do.

We're all keeping busy,
So there's little time to think.
There's little time for a sunrise,
Or to watch as the sun will sink.

There's too little time,
For wiggling toes in sand.
There's too little time,
For holding a hand.

There's too little time,
For kissing.
There's far too much time,
For missing.

If we captured time in a bottle,

How could we utilize,

This time we find so precious,

Before it will vaporize?
My, my! Just look at the time!
Where does all of it go?
If we studied all the time,
What would we come to know?

Time is on our hands.
Time is on our side?
It's heaven sent and always spent,
And always occupied.

Great reminder of how precious time is Micky. The way you formed the poetry was fabulous. Like a song . I was singing along.

      Take care dear friend.

Time isn't holding us..time isn't after us...same as it ever was...same as it ever was. I have so much I don't know what to do with it, besides enjoy breathing :-) Peace brother!! Tom

Time oh where are thee, like sand through my fingers you slip through. Ageless for the young, yet for us older folk slipping faster each hour. Yet I have many pleasant memories to spend what time I have left. Keeping busy as we age and living each and every moment is so very precious.

Beautiful poem indeed and such a nice visualization in Dali's painting.

Hi Micky, I can so relate to this and I'm not high energy type always doing something. I need my down time! It's so important! I always enjoy your musings, they're clever and inspiring! Kathi :O)

Well said, Micky. And just for the record: the older you get, the faster it goes. Trust me!

Time is precious yes, but if you don't enjoy the moment, you will soon discover that it is lost and gone!
