Time is a Flightless Bird
Time Tried to Fly
It crashed And died With the rest of the lies That we've created To prevent our anxious nerves From destroying each other The aging skeleton Wrinkles mask Inner youth The elderly Are children too Fingers struggle To hold onto The mental pictures Of childhood Its been a long day, A long life The blink of an eye Like children we cry, We were all born to die Infancy You were just a fetus once You lost your tail, Learned to crawl Laughed And cried Took a stand to fall Somehow, You learned to talk Imagination didn't die It was just another Blink of an eye Youth isn't just for the young Spring arrives Before it was sprung Again, You'll awake, Amused, As the infant you In the Eyes of a Dieing Elder A child is alive, More than ever Imagination Has no extinction The body breaks down, But the heart doesn't weaken Time took a trip It sank like a ship Into the muddy depths Its now tangled in kelp, Shouting out for help... Adolescence doesn't listen After all, Were all just children Time doesn't bring answers We learn to love The life thats been living Inside of us... Some of the oldest children Let the life die Before the body This is the finest form of ignorance
