To The Moon

Updated on September 24, 2012

To the moon

To the moon

That's what you said the first day

And where you went the last

The diamond dug out of the ground

Shining bright

Shining bright

You shone as bright as the star

You shone as bright as the sun

You are a star in the sky

Tie the diamond

Tie the diamond

To the end of a balloon

Set it free

Watch it float up into the air

Break the bonds

Break the bonds

Feel gravity as it lets you go

As you float through space

Away from the Earth

To the Moon

To the Moon

That's what you said

And that's where I let you go

But you missed the Moon

And flew off into space

To reach the place where you were always meant to be

And now you are out in the universe

No longer held down by the things

That way you down

You missed the moon

But you didn't miss the mark

Now you are a star

A star in the sky

      Jamie -

Thank you very much. It's amazing what kind of art you can produce out of pain...

Thank you all for reading and your votes.

Chris, I love the echoes that this poem produces, they linger in the ear for awhile. Jamie

Thank you very much. It's hard to let someone go, even when you know where they're going.
