To Wayne: A Poem
It didn’t hit me until I saw the newspaper
I didn’t cry until I saw your name
I had heard a few days before
But a new wave of sadness crashed just the same.
I knew very little about you
A musician with a very humorous side
Kind to a fault and always helpful
As do-nothing management enjoyed their free ride.
An overnight revamp of Health & Beauty
You bought Hanson, I thought “what the hell?”
MMMBop - I haven’t listened to it since
You just smiled as my music began to wail.
You will be missed by many of us
Past and current hourlies
But the two in the big office will miss you most
They may have to work until they find a new flunkie.
I think I heard you laugh at that
You did your job and the work of others, too
To a happy, mysterious, sarcastic man
You are free now, the world will miss you!
