To my Best Friend - a poem
Friend
Where have you been my winsome friend?
It's been so long since we've seen each other
I look for you around each bend
But nary your eye I see.
Where have you been my winsome friend?
I miss your shy smile and handsome face
I miss your eyes piercing and blue
I miss your soft and gentle voice; your gait so swinging free.
Where have you been my winsome friend?
I miss your touch so soft as arms brush
Your arm encircling my waist
I miss your look into my eyes . . . knowing.
Where have you been my winsome friend?
I want to see you now
Remember your sweet smile
And take in the scent of your cologne.
Where have you been my winsome friend?
My heart cries out from our loneliness
I only wish to ease our pain
And, be with you again.
Where have you been my winsome friend?
Your heart I wish to capture
I want to love you again and again
Our love -- just bent, not broken.
