Friend

Where have you been my winsome friend?

It's been so long since we've seen each other

I look for you around each bend

But nary your eye I see.

Where have you been my winsome friend?

I miss your shy smile and handsome face

I miss your eyes piercing and blue

I miss your soft and gentle voice; your gait so swinging free.

Where have you been my winsome friend?

I miss your touch so soft as arms brush

Your arm encircling my waist

I miss your look into my eyes . . . knowing.

Where have you been my winsome friend?

I want to see you now

Remember your sweet smile

And take in the scent of your cologne.

Where have you been my winsome friend?

My heart cries out from our loneliness

I only wish to ease our pain

And, be with you again.

Where have you been my winsome friend?

Your heart I wish to capture

I want to love you again and again

Our love -- just bent, not broken.

Hi Lurana! It's a Scottish name. I love how it rolls off the tongue when I say it-just lovely. Thank you so much for your insightful and kind comments. I'm glad you enjoyed reading this. Your visit is most appreciated.

Thank you, Suzette! It's my real name, Lurana Brown. I was named after my father's cousin who was Scottish. I've looked up the name and it is rare but there are a few others out there.

It's difficult to look past hurt and let relationships heal---and sometimes it is just not possible---but those who can are very blessed.

      Have a nice weekend!

"just bent, not broken"...perfect! I like the openhearted tone here; wanting to see this person, not angry or blaming them for not being there, just looking forward to being together again. That is the kind of relationship that can mend! :-) Lurana

Theresa: Thank you so much. I have been very shy and reticent about writing poetry. I am growing though in writing poetry, but it is slow. Thank you so much for your comments and encouragement. Your words mean so much to me. I appreciate you reading this poem.

Suzette - This is lovely. You should write more, but maybe you already do. And I love the period paintings, illustrations. They set the tome beautifully for your words. Theresa
