To the Broken Hearted: A Poem

Updated on April 2, 2012
Source

It's like the smell of wilting flowers
The crumbling of tall towers
It's majestic, full of power

But it's not what I thought it would be
I was dreaming a dream I would never see
Broken doesn't begin to describe
My heart, my soul, and my life...

I can still feel the love you had for me
But it's more like a haunting, less like a dream
The truth is more of a reality then it seemed
The pain is still felt, my senses still keen

It's not what I thought it would be
I was dreaming a dream I would never see
Broken doesn't begin to describe
My heart, my soul, and my life...

But Jesus is still in control, He's right here waiting to make me whole,
You'll always be a part of my past, I know now it wasn't meant to last

It's not what I thought it would be
I was dreaming a dream I would never see
Once broken, once helpless, once shattered
But because of Him, it doesn't even matter
No, it doesn't even matter....

It is, oh, so sad when dreams fall apart, especially if the one that does that is the one we build them with. But we have the strength to dream again and faith gives us exacly that.Beautiful poem. Voted up.

Wow, this spoke so deeply to me! Jesus is indeed the Healer of our brokenness. I'm going through a very painful time in my own relationship right now, and this poem moved me and spoke to my heart; thank you for sharing this part of yourself.

From your comment, I hadn't previously realized just how autobiographical your poem was, anyway. Blessings.

Bella Nina: I believe it's healed as much as it can, but I don't think anyone's heart is exactly the same after it's been broken. Thanks for your comment. :)

You are right. We have to have faith in God and trust in Him beyond our circumstances. He sees the bigger picture.
